Learning HTML

I am not an HTML expert by any means. I've picked up a few bits here and there, just enough to get me by. I've been wanting to figure out how to add a background color to blockquotes to better set them apart and today I finally learned how. I think it looks much better. Let me know what you think about it.

Personally, it bugs the hell out of me. But hey, that's just me.

Figures. Honestly, I wasn't completely happy with the color, but I was having trouble finding a better one and I was just thrilled to have figured out how to do it, so I went with it. Hmmmm....

Is there a way to put a background behind a quote...like a white back drop with faded sides...sort of foggy and cool lookin'? Probably way too much work in html land though...but it wouldn't look quite so blocky then. The way it is kind of reminds me of a 1970's CIA briefing or something.

Oh, I'm sure there is. Just don't ask me how. I don't have the proper authorization to see that part of the "briefing."

Actually, now that I think about it, I think I know how to do that. I'll have to play with it when I get home.
