Last weekend, the girls and I went camping. We went with my friend, Jeromy, and his family. It was a great outing. We camped down below Mystic Lake. While Jeromy, Debbie, and Eli went to a wedding on Saturday afternoon, the girls and I hiked up to the lake. I was so proud of my daughters, especially Shaena. The trail up to Mystic is about three miles, much of it uphill. Shaena was really struggling and she even took a spill toward the end, scuffing up her knee. I was getting worried that I was pushing her too hard. After she fell, I gave her the option of turning back, but she wanted to keep going. Just a few minutes later, we crested the rise and looked out over the beautiful lake.
I admit my eyes got a little wet when we made it. I was very proud of Erica and Shaena.
Smores were definitely the highlight of the trip for them as can be seen by Shaena's face in the picture below. They've never made smores over a fire before.
They also got a big kick out of the hammock Jeromy put up.
We had a lot of fun. I don't get outdoors near as much as I'd like. It's such a refreshing experience.
Here's a link to all of the photos I took during the trip.
